Web Site Enhances Visitors' Experience - Kennedy Space Center

When Kennedy Space Center approached SMT about designing a new web site, they came with a plan. But, after listening to the objectives they needed to accomplish, SMT's project management team kicked into high gear.

Because they had so many objectives and different target audiences, SMT implemented a Hierarchy of Navigation that focused on the three most important things a visitor would request: information on launches, information on KSC and what to do when visiting KSC. In addition, three other levels of navigation were implemented, each carefully planned to enhance the visitor's experience.

As a requirement, the entire site had to reinforce the idea that Kennedy Space Center was located close to Walt Disney World so that vacationers would plan a visit as a day trip. To help guide visitors to include a trip to KSC, SMT proposed a Day Planner that would help the site visitor "commit" to a visit by planning what an actual day at KSC might look like. This proposed agenda could be printed and added to vacation planning materials.

The results have been great. According to Brian Wright, Manager of Sales and eBusiness, the new site is performing better than they could have hoped and customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. He shared an email received from one happy visitor:

"Thank you for the very interactive and informative website. It made our vacation easier to schedule. The kids were able to choose the things they wanted to do and see before we arrived at the Space Center, so they were ready to go upon our arrival."

Said Wright, "This is everything we wanted the site to be for our visitors. We couldn't have done it without SMT."
