Today as I was setting up a Google Analytics profile, I noticed that there was a small, but neat little update to their conversion tracking. Typically you can setup your goals as specific URL's being visited. For example, if setup yourdomain.com/thank-you.html as your goal tracking URL and a visitor lands on that page, Google Analytics will count that was 1 goal (or otherwise known as conversion).
But today, I saw that Google is giving users two (2) more options for their goal tracking. The first one was Time on Site. Meaning, you can setup a specific amount of time (using the greater than or less than condition options) a user will be on your site to determine if a goal was successfully tracked. The time variable choices are hours, minutes, or even as granular as seconds. See picture below.
The second newly updated goal tracking option I saw was Pages Visited. Meaning that your goal tracking can be correlated to how many pages the user visited. Set the pages visited field to any number and then select a condition such as greater than, equal to, or less than. See picture below.
Updates to Google's Algorithm and Analytics are happening all the time. For updated posts on these changes click here.
