Google Launches Free Tool to Create Short Promo Videos

On April 14, 2020, the Google Ads Blog announced the launch of a free beta tool for businesses to create short promo videos for YouTube. According to the announcement, “Given the current environment, many businesses are shifting how they're communicating and interacting with their customers and are turning to videos to make and maintain connections.”

What is Video Builder?

In-person video shoots pose time and resource challenges, especially given the current social distancing guidelines in place around the world. The free beta tool gives businesses the ability to create a promo video that helps connect them with customers and keep them informed.
 
Video Builder works by animating static assets (images, text, and logos) with music from YouTube’s library. Select from a variety of layouts, customize colors and font, and quickly generate a short YouTube video (6 seconds or 15 seconds). Video Builder isn’t capable of creating or editing longer length videos. For that, you can use YouTube’s creator studio or your own software.

  • Add your brand’s color and logo
  • Upload images and add text
  • Choose a preferred font
  • Pick a music track to set the tone of the video
  • Click “create video” and preview the finished product
  • If satisfied, save and upload it to your channel
The tool requires little technical expertise and provides resources to make it easier for businesses to follow YouTube’s guidelines for effective ads.
