I just downloaded the Google Toolbar 5 beta and just happened to read the Google Toolbar Privacy Notice. There is a quick statement in thier stating:
“In Toolbar 5, if you navigate to a URL that does not exist, the Toolbar may send the URL to Google so we can help you find the URL you were looking for.”
This is interesting. I wonder if they will use that data to clean up the index faster for pages coming up with 404s? Here is a screenshot of their “Opps! This Link Appears Broken”
